Majuli River Island



Majuli is the largest fresh water mid river deltaic island at the upper part of Brahmaputra river. It is famous as a bio diversity hot spot and enriched with rare species of flora and fauna. Nearly 850 spices of birds and fresh water dolphins are provided shelter here. Majuli has been recognized as the cultural capital of Assam and also considered as the cradle of Assamese civilization. It touches the borders of national parks of the region which are the wild abode of large population of elephants, wild buffalo and one horned rhinos. The unique thing about this best spot in Guwahati is it changes its shape depending upon the rainfall and the mood of the Brahmaputra River.
